Somewhere along the line in this packet (I'm just starting the third week) I think I screwed up. I usually take my pill around 11 pm but when I went to take tonights pill it was already gone. I had taken a pill when I woke up this morning because i had forgotten last nights. So I'm not sure where the messup is...if I accidentally took two one night or what. Anyways, just wondering how critical is it that you take every pill at the same time each night. I fully plan on having protected sex but just want to know for future reference. And if you do fudge up, how long before unprotected sex is ok again?

I’m a guy so I don’t know all, but I have looked into that before, because my gf is on the pill,
•If you miss one pill, take it as soon as you remember. Take your next pill at the regular time. If the missed pill is at the beginning of the pill pack, discuss emergency contraception with your health professional. •If you miss two pills, take one of the forgotten pills every 12 hours until caught up and continue taking the rest of the pill pack. Backup contraception is recommended for 7 days. If missed pills are at the beginning of the pill pack, discuss emergency contraception with your health professional. •If you miss more than two pills, skip missed pills and complete the rest of the pill pack. Backup contraception is recommended until your next menstrual cycle. Taking the rest of the pill pack does not protect you from pregnancy but will control your cycle. Discuss emergency contraception with your health professional. That’s what I’ve found just about everywhere I looked…personally if my gf missed one I wouldn’t even take that risk until her next pack, with babies its better to err on the side of caution. About the importance of the same time every night…if you want the protection that it claims to provide you should take it as close to the same time every day as possible. And unless your at the point where a baby is ok, then go w/a condom too

I just have kind of a similar question....
So say, for example, that you missed one pill for a few hours, or didn't take it at the right time, or whatever. If you are using a second type of protection, like a condom, and it breaks, what should you do? Should you take a "morning after" pill, or should you hope for the best? What are the health risks of being on both birth control and the morning after pill? Thanks |

A few hours should not make too much difference but strive for being on schedule. You do not want to mess with the morning after pill unless you really need it.
Your chances of becoming pregnant in the scenario you present are very low and the morning after pill, of whatever variety, is not pleasant. Now if you miss a day, maybe.
