LongWoodCOL is on a distinguished road
Ok about 4 months ago my girlfriend got a Pap test and she said that she might have HPV. I have not noticed and warts on my crotch, and I haven’t noticed any warts on hers. I understand on women it can all be internally. She hasn’t mentioned that she feels any different. I have gone down on her and we have had sex plenty of times, and still I haven’t noticed anything. If it is a mild case can her body fight it off? What are the chances that it could get worse or turn into cancer? I think she said something like she will know for sure when she gets tested again. I know men can have it and never know about it, is there any way I can get tested for it? Any help you could give me would be much appreciated.

Brandye is a jewel in the rough
There are nearly 70 viruses labelled as HPV. It is estimated that by the age of 60, nearly three-quarters of the population will have been exposed.

Two of them are implicated in cervical cancer. Moost of the rest are mostly benign.

From your comments, it appears that you are mixing up some different sexually transmitted diseases. Some sex message board is not the right place to be getting educated on this topic. Given your lack of knowledge, and what you expect, I do not understand why you are continuing sex with her. It could be perfectly safe or, if what you are suspecting is true, you could be expecting disaster any day.

Do some research on HPV and talk to a doctor. Every major city has a sex clinic or a women's health clinic. Every school has a nurse. Getting your information here could well lead you astray. I have seen twelve year old on this board giving advice and then, in a different post, asking how to masturbate!

It is your body and your sexual future; get good information.

information about HPV can be found on the internet. I had a pap smear and for the first time, it came back abnormal, doctor diagnosed HPV, I had no clue about this. Brandye is right, there are many diff. strands. It is a virus, it can not be "cured". wether or not it is one that can cause cancer should be a concern. If not treated it can be fatal. A biopsy should be performed and also a caloscopy, where the doc looks witha microscope at the cervix. I have done this except for the biopsy (I am pregnant and they don't do these till after the baby is born) A number of things can cause HPV, one of course is through sex, another is pregnancy (in my case) so if its the first with her (sex) then you should see your doc, or go to clinic and get tested for stds, just to be safe. And if it was 4 months ago that she was tested, she should have been tested again right away, there are false positives on a pap smear, thats why her doc would do a caloscopy to be sure? has she gone back or is she scared?
when mine came back abnormal I was back in a few weeks, but that could be cause of the pregnancy, not sure, but she should have gone back.
