Well looks like I got it. BEen a few days, was hoping it wuld go away if I drank galons of cranberry juice, took cranberry extract pills and such like last time. No such luck it seems. Yesterday I got pain on both of the sides, more towards the back. It went away with Ibuprophen though. Anwyays, it came back today, so I'm going to the doc tomorrow. I'm just rather terrified. I'm allergic to ampicilin, and don't stand tetrycicline too well. So...if anyone could give some advice or way to calm me somewhat, it would be really really appreciated. *weak smile*

Ugh.. sounds more like a kidney infection. Do you have a history of Kidney stones? I do.. unfortunately Id be suprised if it was a UTI and the cranberry juice didnt work. Or you could be a dumbass liek me and mistakenly get the "cranberry drink" that was ust cranberry fruit flavored.. LMFAO!

Bactrim,Septra or Septra DS, norfloxacin (Noroxin) and other fluoroquinolones are used for UTIs and I kwo this not only cause I was a nurse forever.. but cause I too am allergic to 'cillins Bactrim and Noroxin are the best in my opinion and have few if any side effects I have noticed. As a side note or FYI ...Some experts say genetics may be the key, since research has shown that women with certain blood antigens (called the Lewis groups) are more susceptible to cystitis. The cells that line their urinary tracts seem to have far more receptors to which bacteria can adhere. Others may lack glycosaminoglycan, a substance found on the surface of the bladder that is inhospitable to bacteria. SO take your pick ... but get a good antibiotic quickly

Someone at my work had a urine/kindney infection and her doctor said the best thing to do was drink 8 litres of water a day (2 litres is recommended a day for people in good health) as it just flushes out the system and takes the infection with it.

and also the usual rest ect

Her Dr was a nut or your friend was mistaken. a UTI can go to a kidney infection and youre screwed. I can tell you with a kidney infection I dont cafe if you drink a few gallons a day.. you WONT just "flush it out". With a UTI somethimes the urethra gets inflamed.. closes off and you CANT pee.. so what happens to all those litres of water youve drank that have nowhere to go???
I had to have a shunt.. or little tube inserted into my urethra to keep it open so I could pee after a horrendous UTI caused by passing a kidney stone. Even on bactrim that infection got to my kidneys.

A lot of things you can take care of without medical stuff.. but this isnt one Id want to even try. LOL!

I thoguht for a few days that drinking shitload of cranberry juice, taking cranberry pills, and drinking gallons of water would make it go away...it didn't. It got to my kidenys, and I will tell you...it wasn't fun.
I finally broke down, went to the doc, was put on antibiotics that didn't make me break out in hives or puke all night and day long, and it went away. If only I went then it just started, I wouldn't have suffered for over a week, it would have been gone in 3 days. And while sometimes all the home remedies work, a lot of times they won't.

I have the same burning urination problem. *Tried drinking heaps of cranberry juice too and a bit of orange juice but still not cured after 7 - 10- days so I'm going to the doctor tomorrow. I have a suspicion a chick may have given me chlamidia!!

Slade,

Rephrase that. No one GAVE you chlamydia. You got it through your own behaviour.
