Well if you're not clean there is a chance of getting an infection. I mean think about what comes out of that area. But as long as you clean up really well during your shower or bath you shouldn't have a problem. If you're really worried about it just use a condom. That's always good protection against infections.

Short answer: yes, you are cramming enterobacteria up the urethra and they are the primary cause of urethritis. They can get there by migrating in dirty shorts, so imagine really stuffing them up there.
