Does anyone know how likely it is to catch it just by genital contact? Because I have read

Chlamydia is the most frequently reported std in the US.
Genital contact is one of the best ways to get it. You can get it through anal or oral sex too.
It's also known as the silent disease because many times there are no symptoms.
Get tested if you think you got it. it's easily treatable.

And get tested early. Becuase a lot of times people don't get symptoms, they mgiht miss it and in thye long run it can lead to serious problems, like sterility. So get tested early, it is far easier to cure it if you catch it earlier.

I'll mention this for it's irony. About twenty years ago there was an epidemic of this disease in Australia with their Quala Bears. Yes animals can get it too. It was a serious problem as it threatened extinction and these little creatures are like a national symbol there.

Scientist wondered why there was hardly any growth as the population was dwindeling. They set up to observe and found these little creatures were going thru all the right moves alright. So they took some captive and tested their reprodutive tracts to see if they were dysfunctional and why.
They found the epidemic of Chlamydia. They began to work
with these creatures to quaranteen them, treat them with meds to heal them, and restore populations to the wild which could reproduce once again. It took some years, but they did
in fact solve the problem.

No one would have guessed the Quala Bears suffered from Chlamydia by looking at them. They just noticed there were fewer and fewer of them in time to correct the problem. It is
an example I cite when the discussion of Chlamydia comes around.

Its easily treated with medication if caught early- people often show no symptoms and it can lead to you being infertile also important (if u get it) to contact your past sexual partners to get them off to be tested as well.
