sweetie1987 is on a distinguished road
me and my boyfriend want to have sex soon and i really would feel more comfortable if i was on the pill. however, being only 16 it's really difficult for me to obtain it. we were thinking about just using a condom and spermicide and maybe him pulling out to increase the chances a tad more. is this good enough or should i still go on the pill?

Iv herd that Spericide and condoms is about as effective as just the pill, thats all that me and my gf use, and as long as the condoms on right it shouldent pop. Withdrawing is effective too because majority of the semen comes out at climax, but there is pre ejaculating emmissions, some "early party guests".

I think youll be ok, also they make condoms with spermicidal lube that may decrease the risk some more, but i wouldent be to concerend with all those contracepives combined.

good luck young tadpole...

I recommend to my younger patients (16 qualifies) who are not having sex frequently or regularly that they use a condom plus some spermicide in the vagina. I prefer vaginal jelly (KY+ or Ortho-Gynol) but foam, film or suppositories are fine. The combined effectiveness of a condom plus spermicide is roughly the same as being on the pill. There is also the STD protection which could be important at your age.

Whether or not you can get a prescription for the pill at 16 varies by where you live. Call or, better, visit a Planned Parenthood or other women's health clinic.
