Naive_Dreams is on a distinguished road
Hey, I'm 18 years old and I just recently became sexually active for the first time with my boyfriend. As such, I've never had any problems in my vaginal area before ... but last Sunday I began to have a soreness. I thought it was just the results of excessive love making over the weekend - but yesterday afternoon the tenderness began to itch. And this morning [Tuesday] I woke up with an irritation and an itch so strong that I couldn't get back to sleep. I put a warm wet rag on it to help relieve the annoyance, and it helped enough to let me sleep but as soon as I got dressed and got into my car for class, it started again.

I just moved to the state and I don't have a doctor set up yet, so I can't go see one [it takes a few weeks to get in with a new doctor when it's not an emergency] so I'm wondering what I should do. I have no experience in these areas - and I can't ask my mother since she doesn't know that I've been having sex and this is probably not a good way to tell her - so any advice or thoughts would be really appreaciated.

Thanks a lot.

See a doctor. Go to a sex clinic; camp out on a doctor's doorstep; go to an urgent care center; go to an emergency room; see the school health center. SEE A DOCTOR.

This is most likely a minor but embarassing thing if treated promptly. Not treated, it could get real serious, real quick.

If you have never had a gyn exam, it is time for that. If you do go to a sex clinic (all major cities have them), urgent care or emergency room, someone can help you get an appointment with a local doctor.

See a doctor. Today.

It might be a yeast infection but go to the doctor to be sure.
