The literature states that it is effective for thirteen weeks after administration. That last week is iffy. All sorts of things in an individual woman's life can make it last a little longer or not quite as long. Therefore, there is a week's error built in.
There is a very slim chance that she would be pregnant - but there is a chance.
No lectures but this missing pills or forgetting appointments drives us round the bend. The endocrine system is rather delicately balanced in anyone. With a woman using hormoal birth control, we are trying to prevent pregnancy while upsetting the balance as little as possible. Missing or delaying is risky business.
Oh, and use additional birth control until 24 hours after she gets her shot.
