Hi, new to forums and just after a quick question answering.
I am in a stable relationship, and have been for the past 10 months or so. Neither me or my girlfriend have had any previous sexual partners. When we were getting close to first having sex i started flipping around various websites and such for contraceptive advice and have always used a condom. However, they have split several times and it leaves an uneasy sense of paranoia with me when it does. I would ideally like to link my use of condoms with my girlfriend taking the pill. however, she has a serious problem swallowing pills such as asprin and such, normally to the point of retching when she tries. I know there are brands of melting pain killers and the like which can be taken to avoid such problems, I was wondering if anyone knows if there is a similar version for the pill, and if so, how best to go about obtaining it. Any input appreciated |

well, the pill is actually very tiny. Maybe its only larger pills that do this to her?
If not, there is a thing called the patch. she puts it anywhere on her body, then leaves it there for a weeek or so. I odnt know how well it works, but you might want to look into it. its called Ortho-Evra. Good luck and be careful.

There are also a few other kinds of birth control that she can use that don't require swallowing. BUt birth control pill generally is very very small, and many girls in fact get used to swallowing it even without anything to drink. So maybe she could give that a shot and if that doesn't work, talk to a doctor and see what would be best for her.

Do a web search for"hormonal contraceptions."Or go to Planned Parenthood. There are many good approaches to use in conjunction with a condom. Some have been mentioned. Do not ignore the IUD. While it has had a bad rap in parts of the world, they are still popular and effective. There are some available with hormone slow release.
I think the newest of the hormonal approaches is a vaginal ring. It is placed in the vagina, by the woman and not a doctor, and left in place 21 days. Then removed and a fresh one inserted after a period. Just make sure it stays in place.
