Well...condoms work well as long as there are the right size but personally I hate them. *Them make me itch. *I have been using Ortho-Tri-Cyclen Lo. *It's one of the most popular birth control pills and the Lo part mean it has less of the hormones that can (in some cases but not all by any means) cause side effects. *I also use it because it help clear skin but if you are not concerned with that there is the patch or a shot once every three months. *I have a freind who did the shot thing and the only problem she had was that her period stop completely (yeah i know....where's the problem in that right). *Well that can be a bad thing if you are not careful.

Hope that helps

i think condoms are like 97%? effective when used correctly but i think i heard if not used correctly that drops down to like 87%
pills are supposedly 99% effective
the most positive way would be a combo of 2... pills and condoms.. or pills and spermicide... or condoms w/ extra spermicide.

There is a post I did in the Golden Posts that will give you the information you need. I will be doing another shortly on choosing the right one.

As a young married couple, one of the hormonal systems )pill, patch, shot) is most convenient and as effective as anything short of sterilization. Nothing is absolutely effective except absitnence from vaginal sex.

If you do not wish to use the hormones, and many do not, a combination of a condom, either male or female, PLUS vaginal jelly in both the condom and vagina is about as effective the pill. Neither one, alone, is nearly as effective as in combination.

If she is very regular, you can enjoy the days of her period with nothing. There is some risk there but, theoretically, ovulation and menstruation do not go together. If her cycle is erratic, this is too risky because if the period is irregula, so, too, is ovulation.

I do not have any luck with B/C. My husband and I just found out that I am pregnant. Hopefully you will have better luck than we did.
