I went to the doctor last week to be put on the pill. My doctor gave me a prescription and said to call some pharmacies, find out which is the cheapest (because I dont have health insurance)
The pricing is all close. There are three different brands ranging from 21.39 to 32.69 a month..
There's loovral, triphasil and orthotryclen (the monst expensive, non-generic)
So I just wondered, saving 10 dollars a month would i be increasing chances of getting pregnant? Like, are the pills weaker or anything?

the best thing for you to do is call back your doctor or call and ask a pharmacist
some pills are weaker than others b/c some are used for birth control and some are used in young girls to regulate their cycle.
just call the pharmacy and tell them the 3 choices you have to chose from and ask if one is better than the other?
most pharmacists are happy to help anyone out w/ questions they might have.
hope this helps

as you mentioned you didn't have health insurance...for the most part it doesn't matter. i worked at a pharmacy and most insurances don't help pay for birth control anyways which i think is a load of bull sh*t. they'll pay for viagra but not BC. its stupid. just think how many women out there need that xtra $30 a month for other stuff but have to use it just to keep themselves from getting pregnant. yet old men can get help paying for a drug to make it possible to have sex.
ok im done.. sorry for my rant

of course I already talked to my doctor about it. I would never take a pill not knowing fully what it did or how it works.
She said she recommends them all and she has effectiveness with them all. I just figured since there are so many women on this board some may have better things to say about the different types from trying them over the years...

There are many available because there are different brands and different formulations. The generics are just as effective. Some women tolerate one formula better than another; otherwise, the cheapest are as good as the most expensive.
