little worried!

hi, i'm new to this forum and i hope u guys can help me!

i'm spending the summer in new-york and my girlfriend has come out 2 c me.
She is on the pill and we have sex without a condom (she hates condoms). everythings goin great until we realise she 4got to take her pill one evenin so she takes it in the morning but with the time difference between UK and USA i've worked it out that she's prob about 15-17hours late (not 9), and back on scedule now.

i'm being honest with u guys i'm scared cos i'm the one who gets all paniky about this stuff! we have had sex since but practiced the unreliable withdrawl method and i bought condoms now and am using them. how seriously should i be worrying? do pregnancy tests work while she's on the pill? we are going to a doctors when we get home neway (15th aug), will they b able to put my mind at ease?

If she is having her period, she is not pregnant.

nonono, she hasnt had her period... she took the pill 15-17hours late, not had her period.

in fact to complicate matters further she is taking two packs together because she want to have her period after we get back (for other reasons- swimming competitions etc)

In my experience messing with the pills never has a good outcome. Either she will end up screwing up her cycle, or like me end up having two periods per month. My husband and I just started using a diaphram because the hormones in pills, the patch, and depo, screwed me up. If you use it during foreplay it can be an enjoyable experience. It's very simple to use and you don't have to use a condom with it, which interested us.
As for pregnancy, she could take a test, but as far as I know she can't for a couple weeks after she had her last period. Some I think you even have to wait until you miss your next period. She should go to the doc if she is worried.

This discussion has been here a few times. Sexykitty states my medical opinion about using the pill to time a period - not a really good idea.

If she were on one of the old-fashioned, high-dosage pills, there would be little proble. With the light dose pills of today, this could be a problem. Some home pregnancy tests claim to work in seven days; others a fortnight; most, after the first expected period is late. With the "period regulation" she is doing, they would not be reliable.

Statistically, you probably have little to worry about. But, even taking the pill as directed, 3-5 women out of 100 will become pregnant each year. You have upped the odds a bit.

I woould say chill and wait to see in abuot a month if she gets her period and even the month after that... if you really wanna make sure then wait a couple weeks and get an ept ( error proof test) to see if she is preganant. Don't worry if she gets her period you have nothing to worry about little fella. You will be fine If she doesn't get her period then get the ept and find out
