Wink

Hey everyone. Alright, here goes. I've never been sexually active before in my life, but as of late my girlfriend and I have been considering the chances and the possibilities. That would all be fine, if we could come to a peace about it, but I've noticed something along the shaft of my penis that I'm not sure of, and nobody seems to know what it might be.

Now, that's not saying I'll get anywhere online..but I can't afford to get checked right now, so any 'clues' I might find here could point me in the right direction until I CAN go get checked.

Here's the description: tube-like recesses in the skin, varying in length from 3mm to about 5mm long *along the shaft. They seem to just be 'tunnels' along the surface of my skin, as I've been able to painlessly slide a needle through them (almost like a piercing). I have several of them..about three or four..

I'm wondering if they could be ingrown hairs.. I'm 18 years old..I've noticed these for the past few months at least. I found something similar today but found it to definately had been an ingrown hair. Other than that, when examining a smaller of the 'marks' it sort of pussed -- like a blackhead or something.

I have no idea what this is. My girlfriend spoke to her aunt about it, who's a doctor, and she says she doesn't think it sounds very good. She has no idea what it could be though.

Is it possible to catch STD's without having ever had sex? That's the most frustrating part of all...

PS -- Sorry for the lengthy post/multiple questions. I mentioned to my parent that I need to get checked, but they basically brushed it off. So, I have to resort to you guys.. Thank you for any help you have to offer.

Heh..I made a really obscure picture of one of the marks in paint..which can be found at http://www.geocities.com/vicsadick/examplemark.jpg

shugotenshi, I have no idea what the problem is and I would be amazed if anyone else here can do more than take wild guesses (with the possible exception of Brandye - who is a doctor). Even then, if your girlfriend's aunt (who as you say is a doctor) states that "she doesn't think it sounds very good ... but has no idea what it could be", I suspect Brandye won't be able to tell you either.

Whether the problem is an STD or not, it still needs to be checked out by a doctor. You are 18 yrs old, so take responsibility for yourself. I obviously don't know your personal circumstances or location, but most places will allow a person your age a confidential checkup for free or for little cost. Call your doctor or local Planned Parenthood (or whatever you have in your area) and ask for advice as to what you can/should do. Don't just assume that you can't get help.

If you really can't get any help, go back to your parents. Frankly (as a parent myself) their response amazes me! Anyway, insist that they allow you to visit the doctor - don't take no for an answer!

It may be something that can easily be resolved, but until it is, you should definitely not be planning any sexual activities with your g/f. That should be enough motive to get you going! * *

I wish you well.

Well, there's been no discomfort physically from them.. My girlfriend keeps thinking it might just be something with the skin. Either way, it's a no-brainer for me to say that we won't be doing anything till it's checked out for sure..but as to how soon I can get that done -- I don't know. I'll be moving out for college by the end of the summer, so it'll be done by then.

Thanks for the vote of confidence and support, ItalStall. I'll be sure to heed your words of advice.

Brandye is a jewel in the rough
If these are in the area of where the foreskin was removed, the healing process left little fistulae. They also sometimes show up on the shaft of the penis and I am not certain that anyone knows why. They are generally no big deal but you do need to be especially careful with hygiene. During sex the juices of both of you wil get in there and can fester. If these are a problem for you, a dermatologist could make better recommendations than I. If keeping clean is all you need, scrub!

Hey, thanks a lot! I'll put that to the test..I'm just glad that it's not some kind of fatally wounding STD or anything along those lines...

It doesn't cost anything to get checked out. Many clinics offer free STD testing. It is possible to catch an STD without having sex. You can get them from oral sex and even kissing (in the case of herpes). Please just get tested before you two do anything sexual.
