We all know how important it is to protect ourselves from the dangers of sex, but that doesnt mean we cant have fun in the process. ;) *Thankfully there are many different styles of condoms out there, but that raises the question: Which condom is best for sensation, color, flavor, and general satisfaction?

My faves: *
Trojan Pleasure Mesh (gotta love those x's!)
Trustex Grape Flavored *(yum yum!)
Beyond Seven Sheerlon (feels like sex without a condom)

What are your faves and why???

has anyone ever really felt a condom being ribbed? To me, ribbed condoms have to be the biggest scam ever...

I personally don't notice any difference between regular and ribbed, but I had sex two different times with my girlfriend without telling her which type of condom I was using. She said the ribbed condom felt beter

Ribbed did nothing for my husband or my pleasure.

We have some Trojan ribbed lubricated and we both disliked it.

My favorite brand is Kimono. I can feel a lot more through them than most condoms. My boyfriend, however, finds them uncomfortably tight.

My least favorite brand by far is Trojan. I can't feel anything through them. Ribbed Trojans come closest to being tolerable for me.

Wow, this is an old one returned and I see I commented on non-latex. I shall repeat and add. Latex is very abrasive at a microscopic level. A "normal" session is probably not an issue. One of those marathons that universities seem to generate can leave a woman downright sore. The polyethylene are much smoother and cause less wear and tear. This also makes them preferable for anal sex.

Do not ignore female condoms. They are more expensive, look a bit strange in place and require some practice. On the plus side, the male actually slides inside them and often will notice them less than a sheath firmly surrounding him. Also try, with either regular or female condoms, a teaspoonful of spermicidal lubricant inside the condom. It does add a bit of protection but also allows the man to slide a little adding to the feeling.

I use female condoms once in a great while. I find them very satisfactory if he has already brought me off. They do cover the inner labia and reduce friction that pulls the clitoral hood so I lose a bit of sensation with them. The female condom can be in place for digital stimulation but you would have to add it after oral. Insertion will have to be the woman's job unless you train him.

Unhappy

Help! The more I read, the more I get confused! Especially after reading that article 'Spermicidal Nonoxynol-9'. If I am going to go out and buy condoms, (which I was planning to do), I really have NO idea what to get, so please help!

I have no allergy to latex, so I know I want latex. I was also hoping to get them lubricated.

If I buy thinner, for a more 'enjoyable' experience, will they work as well as extra strength? And will extra strength be as 'enjoyabl'e as thinner? More protection is better than more 'enjoyable'. Both would be nice!

So basically, I'm looking for latex, lubricated, extra strength, and thin condoms!

Which kind of condom is most reliable and most effective?

Do they all offer the same amount of protection from STD’s?

If anyone has recommendations on a brand/kind that includes all of these things, I would appreciate it a lot! The price doesn’t matter.

Most importantly, I’m looking for maximum protection

As I’ve said, the more I read the more I get confused, I just want some straight out answers. I’ve looked at the other posts on condoms, and looked in the birth control section, so please don’t direct me towards those again! Also, I already know that nothing is 100% for birth control and prevention of transmission of STD’s.

Thanks!

Well, the non-9 caution I posted from Lancet is mostly for anal sex. If you are going that route, use dry condoms and add your own water based lube.

There has been no significant difference in effectiveness noted among the major brands and latex or poly. I recommend poly because it is not as abrasive. Among the major brands and "models" it is strictly personal preference. The no-name brands from the machines? Who knows? Get what you can identify; get a selection and try them out.

I have no preffered condom, but I've been looking into getting Trojan Ultra Pleasure with spermicide. It isn't thin or extra strength, but supposed to be mutal pleasure. If I get my act together I'll buy some this week and let you know the verdict. I've never used condoms with spermicide, but it seems like a good idea. I don't think I could ever actually apply the stuff myself, seems like it will detract from the moment. Lately I've been using LifeStyles Xtra Pleasure, but I can't tell the difference between them and whatever condoms my boyfriend brought home last time.
