i was just wondering if any one could help me with a little query... i have been on the birth control pill now for bout 4 months and it has been working and i have been happy but this month i havent had a proper period like the flow hasnt been like it normally is infact ive hardley had any and my question was could it be because i could be prrgnant or does the pill do this to the flow! i know that the pill lessens the flow but this has been the first month the flow has been very different! any suggestions thanx for any replies!! sam xxx

Hi sam,

Yes, you can get pregnant while on the Pill, but if you have been taking it properly it is unlikely.

It does take a while for your body to adjust to any type of medication. Also, different brands of Pill suit different women better than others - some women have to try more than one brand to find one that suits and works best for them.

Ok, that's just background info. The only person who can really tell you for sure what is going on is your doctor. You should make a visit if you are concerned.

There are many brands and formulations of "the pill." Sometimes women have to try two ro three to find the most comfortable one for them. Talk to your prescribing physician. I am sure she is familiar with a few and may recommend a change.
