In most European countries you can have an abortion at 16 without parental involvement. In Canada and the US, the requirements vary by province and state.

Whatever country you are in, go to the nearest Planned Parenthood. They can do the counselling free and will not notify your parents. They may or may not give you a referral.

If you have made the decision for abortion, the sooner, the better.

Hugs, Honey, and get some birth control advice while you are at PP.

abortion is a really terrible thing. I know that this statement could start a huge argument, but try to do anything to avoid an abortion, why should you take the innocent life away from your child, it wasn't it's fault that you conceived. If you are not ready to deal with the consequences, you shouldn't be having sex. that's just my opinion

the whole topic of abortion is (of course) a very contentious area, where religious beliefs, science and personal feelings are all components of a huge "mix" of conflicting ideas and emotions, defying our attempts to be rational and objective.

some people would have you believe that life begins at the moment of conception, others when the egg implants, or, by the arbitrary "legal deadline" for abortion, or, when the fetus in theory can sustain its own life (needing only nourishment), etc., etc.

one remote south american tribe (with no modern methods of birth-control) was discovered to allow the father to practice "birth-control" up to the 1st birthday of the child! after the child's first birthday such an act was considered murder.

which of all these options is right or wrong? at what point does "preventing life" become "taking life"? we probably all have varying opinions on this, but of course opinion isn't fact and definitive facts seem to be hard to come by.

without doubt, *any answer we come up with (in a practical situation) is at best an uncomfortable, compromised one, often based on fear and/or material considerations ... all the more reason not to put ourselves in the awful position (of HAVING to decide) in the first place!

bottom line is ... next time we are flippant about birth-control, we should stop and consider the possible consequences, and the decision we might ultimately be forced to make and live with (one way OR the other) for the rest of our lives!

this is definitely an area where prevention is a LOT better than "cure".

go to planned parent hood definitely...check their website to find the one nearest you....www.plannedparenthood.com, they have abortion pills if it's within 72 hours of getting pregnant. *if not they have counselors that you can talk to and also gynecologists, and doctors, and good luck.

edited by the moderator:
the pills referred to here are in fact effective for five days (not 72 hours) after intercourse ...

I totallly agree with AJM.

Everything you do have consiquences, and if you cant take those consiquences dont do the action, you know that when you have sex unprotected that there is a chance of you getting pregnant, and if your not ready to take care of a kid then your not ready to have sex.

Taking a life away, an inocent child that has nothing to do with you having unprotected sex, is not right, dont kill a child because you were irresponsible for a day. You shouldve used birth control.

I really hope that you didnt have an abortion, let us know what happened, if you didnt do it yet, please consider the innocent child that you may kill, and not let them have a chance in life.

I dont believe in abortion or adoption, but if you are not ready to have a child and take the responsibility then the least you can do is give the child a chance and give it up for adoption, I am begging you consider this as an option, please let me know what you did.

[I] Maybe its just me but i don't believe that anyone should tell anyone what they should not do. are we in that person's place? no do we know what happened to that person? no so why do you find your self telling them what they should and should not do. come on we are all human and we make mistakes. girl if you feel that you need to have an abotion then do it. just make sure that you arte doing it for good reasons. make sure that you know why you are doing it.

Cool

I agree with SNOOPY.
Noone knows how she got pregnant,if she was using protection or not and i think it is her decision and we should not "put our noses too deep".She only asked for help and not for "parentīs lesson".I am sure she has parents to do that
So if you are sure you want to do abortion than i wish you much luck, but i am sure that will teach you the lesson to pay more attention next time during sex act!

I was never telling her what to do. I feel the same way, noone has any right to tell anyone what to do. But I do feel that everyone has their own opinion and has the right to express it when they want. I was just expressing the way I feel, whether she take into consideration my opinion is up to her, Im not going to hate her if she does have an abortion but i can express my opinion. I dont feel that abortion is right, I would never tell anyone not to do, but I will tell them I dont THINK that they should do it. I dont know the situation, but I can say my opinion, I dont judge anybody, Im not saying that she is a bad person for thinking of doing it.
I think that everyone has their own opinion and noone, (you or me) has the right to judge them by that.

Exclamation

It's a little late to change her mind anyway. If she did not get the abortion, she has already given birth.
