I have this same problem. But I also found out I have endometriosis. Does she have a family history of this? I don't know if this is what your girlfriend has, but you may want to tell her to see her obgyn. Here is a link: http://www.ivf.com/endohtml.html
I don't wanna scare you, but it's more common than alot of people think. Hope this helps.
Yes and Midol.
Actually, from what I've read- mainly on here (thanks ladies)- everything you mentioned sounds pretty normal.
You didn't mention no period at present so I'm assuming we aren't talking about pregnancy. A lot of things can cause a woman to skip a period- stress being one.
All women are different and have different reactions to their period. Some have no problems at all, and others have severe cramping and pain like you mention.
I would suggest a visit to the gyno(dr.'s). (S)He can double check and make sure nothing is wrong, and reccommend something for the pain and cramping. My understanding is birth control pills help with these things, and they also help to regulate the cycle.
Missing periods is definietly not a good sign, and then bad pains. are teh bad pains something like descriptions of morning sickness??
wen i first read teh post the first thing that popped in my head was pregnancy...now dont panic...i could definietly be wrong..but i say go to the doctor and get her checked out.
