Hey.. well I'm new on here I looked at the Shaving 101 thread but didn't find answers I am looking for..
Anyways I have been shaving down there, but I always get the red bumps and they are so irritating! I usually soak in the tub.. hot water..for abit before and then I use shaving cream and I do it as gently as I can but they still appear! And even if it's not too bad right after, the next day or two there are alot.
And I have put aloe gel and other cream to try to stop the irritation but they don't clear up as soon as I would like them to? I find them pretty unattractive lol.
Anyways if anyone would like to tell me what I'm doing wrong or not doing to help with this it would be appreciated. Or any tips... what kind of razors seem to be good or whatever! Thank you!

When I shaved I used a men's razor, Gillette? Those worked the best. Then I switched to waxing and swear by it, I'll never go back!
I hear waxing is better because it pulls the hairs out by the roots so they don't come back thicker each time is that right? Do you buy the home do it yourself ones?
Exactly, it comes back in so fine and lighter; furthermore, it lasts longer 4-6 weeks!
Once about 8-10 years ago I tried a home product it was called "sugaring" (a sugar based wax) let me tell you it was excruciating. On top of that it infected a few of the hair follicles which left a few small permanent marks. I went back to shaving and swore I'd never try it again.
I had some gift certificates from Christmas for one of the spa's here, and decided to try my legs. This was the first time I had allowed the hair to grow in, it does not have to be very long either, but I was not involved with anyone, so it was okay to give it a try. The creamy waxes (not the clear ones) work the best.
I had my full legs done, I could have fallen asleep during the process, there was no pain, just maybe one ouch. Then a few days later, I decided to do the underarms, and bikini line, no big deal and no rash or redness after! Then I tried the Brazilian wax, I thought it would be so bad due to the area. Again, just a small ouch once in awhile, No redness, no discomfort, no rash, no irritation! I put my jeans back on & no discomfort! I went tanning afterwards, no sensitivity.
I will never, never put a razor again to my body. I am neurotic about not having razor stubble, I hated it and would shave twice daily in the summer or if I was involved w/someone, I like the smoothness.
A good professional makes it quick and easy, since they know the right angle to pull at and which direction the hair growth pattern is following. And they are less likely to break the hairs off. I cannot say enough good things about it!
