Well....this discussion sort of began in another thread but it was going pretty far off-topic so I thought why not make a thread just for it? So....what do you guys look for in terms of age and appearance?

I for one, have found this to be very true, and this is not a good thing for me. I am an 18 year old male, 6'5, my weight tends to fluctuate throughout the year, usually between 165-180. I do not have any tattoos or piercings. I have never had much luck with women and I have also noticed that the guys described above seem to have less trouble. So I have endlessly wracked my brains trying to come up with ways to become more attractive. I can't exactly make myself shorter, tattoos and piercings just don't do it for me. I am built fairly well, though I'm not exactly what you would call "big", mainly because my height makes me appear skinnier then I actually am. Any suggestions ladies? I keep myself pretty well groomed I think, I have dark brown hair, I wear glasses(I hate them, but contacts really hurt my eyes), I had problems with acne all through my teens, though these have severely lessened the last year or so apart from the occasional break out. So how do I become "pretty"? LOL!
As for age...I also have difficulties here....being just over the adulthood line. Most women my age or older want older men. I am very mature, but it seems as soon as they learn my age the deal is off. Younger girls tend to be immature and wrapped up in themselves. There are some exceptions to this...but that doesn't change that fact that she would be a minor and I would be risking getting myself put on a sex offender registry is her parents don't like it.
So come one and all...tell us what you like and maybe we can all help each other out a bit.

From a male: My views are broad. I mean I have my fantasy and I have my reality.
Fantasy. Thick girl, (not fat with a tummy, just thick with a flat tummy lol) Big breasts, Older than me. (at least 23) and of course shorter.
My reality girl. About 5'4", B cup, (C on their period) Dark brown hair, athletic body, flat tummy, cute face, little scar on their right cheek, and on their elbow. Oh and about 17 almost 18 or so ;)
guys: i love tall and lanky guys. with dark hair and light eyes. piercings are always a plus! i don't like guys that are really built, big muscles are a big turn off.
girls: i have a thing for asian women. but small girls with dark hair. i like her to be smaller than me for some reason!
just spent the evening with a tall, very slender guy with a nose ring. :D absolutely adorable and sexy guy.
I used to love asian women. I mean instant hard on when I would see a petite asian girl. But now that phase has passed haha. Im more into mexican -ish people (Or to better my description girls who are half native american, quarter mexican and a quarter japanese. :D)
Never found nose rings hot though chib. (I do check out guys occasionally) Lip ring centered on a guy or girl is Orgasmic, and a little nose stud (women though). Belly button rings pushes my buttons and on the right woman, a lip stud on the top of the lip (like left or right)
All those who have a fixation on Asian women should try living with them. For the most part they are oppressed by a largely patriarchal society and are ruled by their parents to a degree that is unbearable.
Now before you all start bleating "racist", I'm half Asian (mother is Chinese) and I was born in Hong Kong and raised there. I have a deep understanding of the culture, being part of it, and I can safely say that most of the local Asian women are boring in bed, unimaginative, uncreative and shallow.
It's a result of the Chinese/Japanese culture and education system in particular - if you've ever experienced it (as I have) it's soul-destroyingly boring and standards are ridiculously high, producing for the most part generation after generation of soulless, downtrodden, robotic and industrious workers.
Now, Asian women who were brought up and educated elsewhere are perfectly normal and often attractive. But if you're a westerner, don't try to move to China or Japan looking for relationships. It's far more trouble than it's worth.
And to get back on topic and answer the OP's question:
I know exactly how you feel. I'm in my 20s and have been 6 foot 6 since I was 17.
To make yourself attractive you have to look at several things:
1) Good personal hygiene is a must.
2) Clean shaven is the way to go. A beard or significant facial hair on someone your age looks strange.
3) Dress well - dress simply. A pair of jeans or khakis (casual trousers, to those less Anglo-inclined) with a T shirt and maybe a simple jacket over the top in a neutral colour.
The T shirt should be one colour, preferably white, beige or black, with perhaps one logo - not too much decor on it, as that's just distracting and looks cheap and tacky.
The Jacket, again, should be neutral with minimum logos.
The key, of course, is contrast.
4) If you wear glasses, try getting a pair that are considered stylish - but obviously don't go OTT. Frameless with rounded lenses are supposedly a good choice.
5) Realize that women all have different tastes, and it's impossible to please all of them. Some might see your age as a negative, some might not.
Also, you'd be surprised how many women take "I think I might be gay, I just broke up with my girlfriend." to be a challenge. :D

that's really very unfortunate for asian women! i am not interested in moving to asia to find one though:p there are plenty of very attractive asian-american women here in my home state of washington. the japanese, they love seattle! ha.
Well I know my type isn't desired much, but I figure I'd post it anyway.
I'm 6'0, 350 pounds, mostly muscle. Yes, I now everybody says that but when you can lift the back end of a Ford F150 off the ground, I'd say I'm genuinely more muscle that fat. I have short reddish/brown hair, blue eyes and a goatee. I know, lady killer eh?
My ideal woman can range, but I tend to veer away from smaller framed girls. No need to make me seem even bigger in comparison. For some reason I am more attracted to redheads and women my age or older.
I know it sounds like I'm lying but I do prefer someone who is either as intelligent as me or greater and she needs great eyes. That doesn't mean she should be able to do quadratic equations like most people change a light bulb, but I like to know she can hold her side of an intelligent conversation. I tend to be quite the armchair philosopher.
Boobs and ass are great, but I'm a deeper person than that. I won't lie and say a big chest won't turn my head, but it's what's attached that really matters.

Haha! I remember one of those shows in Thailand. The only thing was that you could never be sure if they were born women.
My fantasy women are too numerous to count, I like so many types. I'd have to say that a voluptuous w/b-interracial female or a 5 foot nothing Asian female would be at the top of the list. Not to mentioned girls with tons of tattoos. That being said, I'm pretty darn happy with my white voluptuous 5 foot nothing girlfriend who has no tattoos :)
I prefer a woman within a year of my age, independent and mature, tall (5'11" or so is just about perfect!), slim/slender, with long legs and B-C cups, tight stomach, beautiful face, high cheekbones, any hair color (though I somewhat prefer fiery redheads, brunettes, and strawberry blondes). So, in short, your basic, everyday model...
I don't know what to tell you as far as improving your appearance goes. Never having seen you, it's hard to say what would work and what wouldn't...

Externally: Baseball player body.. you know nice ass, big chest, broad shoulders, clean cut haircut, no tatoos, no piercings, 5'5'' or taller <= musts!!!
My all time dream guy would be a guy with blue eyes, dark hair, 5'10'', ^^and with all that. I guess you could say my dream guy is Superman with a baseball bat!!! :D he's so hot!!
How I like him to dress:
Preppy!! Tight t-shirt (A&F, American Eagle, Hollister.. good brands, well depending on age), nice jeans or cargo shorts, vans <= can't ever go wrong wearing that with me!
You have seen my pictures. I am 5'9" tall, and am one of those long-legged lithe if not entirely slender brunettes Thresher goes for.
And yes, Thresher is exactly my type of man - if he has fur and is at least 40 years old. If not, oh well! Shame Oedi's too young too.
I like men to be taller than I am in my stilettos so at least 6 foot tall. He has to be built to where I cannot literally pick him up. (No, I cannot bench press 350 pounds.) He must have fur. Tattoes and piercings are a huge turn OFF. Both are just creepy. He must have more than half a brain and he has to use it. He must be between 40 and 60 years of age. A non-malicous sense of humor is a plus. The ability and willingness to dance, vertically, is a plus. Manners, yes, another 'must have'. He also has to be sexually open-minded and in NO doubt of his masculinity. Finally, he must be ethusiastic about leaping into bed with me!
What can you, the OP, do? Well, you can stand up straight and work out a bit to get some muscles on your frame. Stop being shy. Learn to dance. TALK.

The reason why those scrawny guys get the girls is they seem non-threatening. Those are the lap-dog guys. They are the 'toy boys'. They will not be her first choice when she's seriously seeking a mate.
Just to see, check out your local swingers group. Yes, you might be too young, but there might be a cougar or two there willing to finish your education. But also, see how the men behave. These are the old dogs. Most of them are not scrawny little boys by any means. Most of them do quite well too. They have an attitude that should be most enlightening, and useful, to you.
Well I do have the fur, but not quite 40 yet. Only in my late 20's.
I'm not a real fan of skinnier women as I feel I might break them. To me a real woman has some meat on her.

Might as well describe her since she is almost EXACTLY what I look for. She's a little shorter then me, maybe 5'8 or 5'9, not too skinny, not too big. She has a little bulk on her but she carries herself really well. She has really dark hair and eyes and the most beautiful smile I have ever seen. I'm fairly confident that it will go well, I have seen her taking little looks in my direction when she thinks I can't see her....wish me luck!

As far as my leg press.... I've never fully been able to test myself, I used 1200 plus the machine and still did it twice. In the gym I don't socialize and finding enough guys to help spot is hard.

I'd just start asking you stupid questions about "is this right????", LOL! Then offer to spot you!
LOL, better than the High School morons who see me and try to go head to head. I go into my own little world in the gym, headphones and everything. Then after a set...not my max, some punk will ask to jump in real quick....he tries a couple of times and ends up looking ridiculous.
I don't mind guys jumping in, but I don't like the wannabes. No offense to anyone wanting to start a program. I've trained several guys and a couple of girls. Just good gym etiquette, always respect the equipment and the users.
