Since shaving hair makes it grow back thicker, I really do not want to shave my pubes, but I do want them to be really short. Any suggestions on what I should do? I've even gone to the point where I'm cutting my pubes with scissors extremely close to the skin (close enough that I've slightly cut my skin).

Alternative to Shaving Pubes ? (Don't want them any thicker)

Get an electric "clipper" similar to the ones they use to clean up the back of your neck after a haircut. Some have length settings, like the ones used for dog grooming (sorry)! The bright side? You cannot cut the tissue with these and you can trim the pooch when they are not in use, LOL!
shaving does not make the hair grow back thicker. it might appear thicker because instead of the hair tapering off into a point, it has been sliced leaving a raw edge, but it does not make you have more hair.
if the hair is waxed off, it will grow back the same.
An alternative of which I am aware (second hand) is laser removal. I know a woman who had it done. The obvious plus is no more shaving, and it's always very smooth. The minuses are not inconsiderable expense, it involves a fair amount of time and discomfort, and you can't change your mind back the other way in a few years.
