Abnormal Pain

I started taking birth control (Levora 0.15/30-28 is the drug name). My reason was that I needed to skip a period last month for a three-day event I was attending.

So I skipped my last period, and I just got this month's and I've been having abnormally bad cramps. I usually get pretty bad cramps, like stay-home-from-work cramps, these however are stabbing pains in my abdomen and lower back. I am also experiencing occasional pain in my vagina itself, so I decided not to use tampons for a while during this period.

I'm wondering is the pain has to do with the pills or with skipping my last period.

Thanks to anyone who can help.

One of the many reasons for my sticky Caution: Take Only As Directed!

Yes, "the pill" can be used to regulate periods and some women do it successfully with limits.

As I understand it, you started the pill part way through your cycle to suppress your flow at the expected time and then continued. Now, having stopped the pill you have more than a full cycle's worth of uterine lining build up. And a confused body: (Am I pregnant or not). You have more than usual flow and the trigger for that flow in your body has become reset somewhat arbitrarily.

Any of the "bad" signs of your period that you are accustomed to are now exaggerated. You avoided an inconveniently timed period and now you are paying the price. Nothing has been damaged. Tampons will not make it any worse.

Good to know, thanks a lot!
