To answer the last question in cool mac's original post, many women are not interested because it is, as your previous partners said, gross. Think about it; anuses are full of one of the dirtiest, smelliest, most germ infested substenses on the planet, and no matter how clean it is, there will always be a little bit of that stuff in there.
That said, if a guy really really wanted me to do it I would be willing to try it once--provided that there was a layer of latex between his anus and whatever part of me was coming into contact with it.
