7 partners??

I have slept with 6 guys since September. I chickened out on my gyno appointment to be tested. I used protection with 3 of the guys. I had sex with each of them once, not repeatedly. I haven't had anything abnormal looking or anything down there, but I know many STDs don't show symptoms. What are my chances of having an STD???

Roughly nine percent of the people walking the streets of any industrial country carry one or more STDs. Many of these people have no symptoms but they can pass it on. Many of these are carrying HPV of which there are about one-hundred. We do not even know what most of these viruses do but we do know that four of them cause cervical cancer - usually decades after you pick them up.

Promiscuity is not a safe game for any woman with or without protection. Utterly disregarding self-protection is mindless and dangerous. There is a rather higher chance that you are infected than not. As difficult as it is, let the doctor or clinic nurse know that you have been careless to insure that all tests are done.

Well if you only used protection "half" of the time... Those aren't really good odds... Like you said, a lot of STDs show no symptoms... especially in men.
Some STDs can cause major problems for women down the road like infertility, etc.
Plus, no one can give you an exact probability or percentage. I don't think there is an equation or formula for that lol.

Are you on the pill?? Or did you not have any protection at all??

I'm w/ Doc... I am the type of person that is a worrier... and the "not knowing" is what drives me insane!!
Like almost to a panic attack sometimes... or at least trouble sleeping.
Once I was late for my period... and I think I took a pregnancy test everyday for like a week... even tho it kept saying negative every time... till I finally got my period.

What you did not say is how many of the guys used protection. Here is something very real to consider. In essence you did not just sleep with six guys; you also "slept" with each person each of them was with prior to you--AND, each of the persons each of them was with, and so on and on.

No one can tell you what your chances are of contracting a communical disease; however, without any protection, I believe it fair to say that you played Russian Roulette with several loaded single barrel cannons any one of which could smite you.

> I chickened out on my gyno appointment to be tested.

And, why did you do this?

* Would you rather go and find out that nothing is wrong and have peace of mind that you do not have now, or:

* Would you rather go and find out that you do in fact have an illness that can be cured now; or:

* Would you rather be afraid to go to the doctor, do nothing, and end up with a dreaded disease that will do bad things to you down the road.

Please go visit your doctor.

This question is like some very strange statistical problem...I think the question you need to answer is why did you do this to yourself? And what are the chances you have contracted HIV?

Think I'll add one more point. Besides going and getting checked out for you're own peace of mind, you need to do it so you are sure of not passing something along to your next encounter.
Stories like this make me glad to be in a manogamous relationship and done with the sngles scene.

What were you thinking???

If you aren't in a monogamous relationship and know your partner inside and out, you should always use at least a condom. There are so many scary things out there that you have put yourself at risk for.

Let's do some math. If you slept with seven men and each of them slept with six partners before you (for the sake of simplicity, we'll assume that the tree ends there, but in reality, it expands exponentially), you have put yourself at risk for all the sexually transmitted diseases that those 43 people may have had.

Do yourself a favor and get tested. Try to learn from this experience that being free does not come without consequences.
