The instructions say you don't have to remain fully erect, as long as when you slip into the tube you are. I was shocked on how fast the stuff set. So really as long as you have a solid hard-on at the beginning the mold will take care of the rest....almost like memory foam! haha
As for maintaining it, I'm in the same boat. I tried a cock ring, no luck.
