I really detest this loose use of the word, particularly here, when it is sometimes difficult to figure out a person's gender from what they write.

If or when the clitoris becomes too sensitive to touch directly, a switch in tactics is required. the clitoris can be manipulated indirectly either by tugging and massaging the labia, or, by folding the labia over the clitoris and rubbing it thru them.
Do not forget that just like the male version, every clitoris has a shaft, it is just that in females, it is buried. You can rub it with one finger or between two.
While fingering, try doing it with dry fingers, and also with lubricated fingers.
