Being called something like that for the first time would shake anyone.
It really could have been anything. First thing that comes to mind is, did he assume you had undies on UNDER the boxers when you were just in boxers? Or, did it just remind him you're a girl, and in that situation (alone with you for several days, away from his girl for so long if he had one, etc) he kind of needed to be able to think of you as one of the guys? Or maybe he's just a prude.
We all think now and then about stuff that happened eons ago. Whatever it was that caused his reaction, it was nearly a decade ago. You may never see him again and even if you do, what, are you going to ask? Probably not. Personally I'd roll it off. Make it just one of those 'way back when' stories.
