While statistically the patch may be 99%, if in fact accurate, the realistic number is often quite lower because of a variety of a variety of factors.
An excellent rule of thumb is this:
* If you are not prepared to father a child, wear a condom, always.
* If she is not prepared to be a mother, she should use the patch or use an other highly reliable for her protection.
* In addition, a third line of defense is recommended, that being a spermicide in the vagina.
If, for whatever reason a girl/woman cannot use a contraceptive, the two of you should use a condom and spermicide. One is not good enough.
You are correct to be worried about pregnancy. It doesn't matter so much what the statistical number is for any contraceptive, there are lots and lots of cases in which people tried tempt fate and lost, because anything less than 100% means a pregnancy is possible with some number out of 100.
If you do not want to wear a condom, wear one anyway and add a dab of lube to the head of your penis only before rolling it on. If you still do not want to wear a condom the stick with Foreplay and do not engage in intercourse. You will discover that your climaxes are more apt to be more intense, anyway.
