Try using warmer water, even hot if you can handle it without burning yourself, and soap. I had this problem with my ex, I think some people just have a stronger smell than others, haven't had the problem since her. The best I could come up with is hot water (especially if I have a shower) and soap. But yeah as the doc says, it won't be noticable unless she gets close to your hands, but the room smell might be.
Also if she is a bit prude, chances are even IF she notices anything she won't comment on it so you don't need to worry.
