Fenton's Procedure is usally used to correct scars left by epesiotomy - the cut that is made in the vagina to prevent tearing during childbirth. Sometimes women who have torn for other reasons have to have this done.
Your surgeon is the only one who can answer your question. It depends upon the nature of the tear, how it happened and the precise location. If the surgeon is aware of what is being dealt with, it does not make much difference.
No reason to intentionally tear yourself. Call the doc's office and ask.
