I don't really agree with that last statement. I think that as you get older you tend to focus a lot more on hugging and kissing than the actual sex. I think that is true for males as much as for females (speaking from personal experience).
(I'm assuming by "make out" you mean hugging and kissing without sex, which I expect is the American definition. The meaning here in Australia is a bit more ambiguous. If somebody here said that they 'made out' with someone, it would usually mean that they had sex with them.)
