I have never seen the connection between the two. Solitary masturbation is sex for one; no one else is involved, so it is no one else's business. Getting upset in any way about a partner's masturbation seems weird, possessive, and downright unwholesome to me.
I find that an increased frequency of solitary masturbation has the effect of increasing my overall libido and wanting even more sex with myself and others. The idea that your libido might be drained by masturbating is rooted in the old idea that masturbating is debilitating and leads to mental or physical illness, not to mention those hairy palms and zits.
