If'n you are a city dweller, look round for a bath shop or a botique for these items. Depending upon the shop, they may stock massage oils. Also, if you know a massage therapist (as I do) ask her what she recommends and where she purchases her products.

You can also consult online stores and see what they have to offer.

I agree that using an oil designed for the skin is best because this type of oil will not leave an residue. You can wipe your hands later and not find a trace of it, unlike cooking/salad oil for example. I would continue to use a bath towel for the person to lie on.

Adding a couple of drops of an essence is a nice addition. If you find a large bottle of oil, you can always divide it up. Pharmacies should have small plastic squirt bottles or bottles with an eye dropper cap for sale. These work very will and store easily in a nightstand. Place the large bottle away in a cupboard somewhere.
