As I said earlier, it's not just a matter of preference but also practicality in my case, and many of the guys I've discussed it with who also consider themselves bottoms (very few use the term "total"). If you can't stay hard and perform as a top with a condom on then that's that. "Selfish" would be "screw it, we'll bareback so I can top".

Actually what I find more irksome than at least stating your preference are the many guys who claim to be "versatile", only to find they have issues with really identifying themselves as bottoms but that's all they want to do.
