I was quite surprised when my hubby told me that he almost never used lube on himself, when I chased him down with massage oil it was a whole new thing for him!
He likes me to just play with him casually, not necessarily to make him come, especially if he's tired. He says it's relaxing.
When our skin is totally dry a light grip will slide easily, but if either of us is sweaty or damp (from a shower) then the skin sticks together and is painful. I think a good lube is required for those "killer" handjobs that everyone wants to learn to give, but for mild play it can be done without.
