The typical vagina in its normal state is 7-8 cm - about three inches. During sexual arousal, the vagina "balloons" and gets both deeper and wider. This is part of your body getting ready to accept a penis; it also forms lubrication at this time. It will become another few centimeters deep and the widened "barrel" will allow it to stretch.
The vaginal walls are about forty cells thick. The way these are linked allows them to stretch greatly. The sense of depth of penetration we get when we take a penis into us is a result of this being stretched. There are no nerves in the vagina so we really feel nothing in there. The tension that the stretched vagina puts on the lips, muscles and external genitals "feels like depth."
We each have our preferences but, as a practical matter, there are almost no penis' that any of us cannot accept. Depth really does not matter for a normal, biological woman.
