It all depends on the guy. Some guys don't mind it, others are grossed out. Personally I can wait the week. I don't find it arousing at all lol. I myself don't want to be grossed out.
You could always do it in the shower or make sure you have lots of towels under you. Oral can be done if you are wearing a tampon and are clean down there. One guy said he has sex w/ his g/f w/ a tampon in, but that's just weird. I wouldn't do that, sounds painful.
They also make these menstrual cups that are like a diaphram and hold back the fluids. It fit way up inside so that you are able to have sex. I got some but I couldn't ever get it in there and have it be comfortable.
Glad to hear you finally got your period but remember there is still possibilities of getting pregnant on your period. Small but still there.
