Sweet jesus it hurts...Dont make the same mistake...

So never ever shave against the grain to get a smooth shave....I did last night and here I am today...barely able to do anything but lay perfectly flat...It burns sooooo much why? cuz each hair is super tiny and sharp and a bunch are ingrown but i cant do anything cuz theyre too tiny...

hahahaha....you get used to it ducy after youve shaved for a bit...im assuming that this was your first time going against the grain dude? all you can do right now is tough it out...sorry bud.

Haha actually second against the grain....but i havent gone against it in about 4 months lol...Its lame...especially cuz the hairs in the middle are all growing in ingrown :(...

I always shave against the grain, haha. The first time was absolute hell, I admit, but after that I've gotten used to it. It doesn't irritate me any more, and I hardly ever get ingrown hairs. Just gotta make sure you do it carefully and after/during a hot shower so that everything's open and loose. You may even want to try aftershave, LOL!

Try an electric razor first...the switch over to a good triple blade with shaving cream...I am not going to ask where you did this to...what part of your body.

Use a pair of tweezers and pull the small hairs. I can tell you after waxing you can put a small amount of baby oil on your skin which alleviates the burning feeling, irritation. But then you also have to watch your hair follicles.

I concur with Ducy, ouch! I've found an electric razor is only good if you use the trimmer for tidying up bushy areas you want to keep. Doesn't work too well if you use one for close shaving though. Tends to grab the skin in the loose areas, and boy does that hurt! The only way to do it is to use a razor and shaving cream, CAREFULLY. (I'm talking from a male perspective, by the way.)

Electric razors on men do not get close as the good ones (bladed); my ex used to use the electric & it drove me nuts--5 o'clock shadow. He dry shaved his face once...using a blade & I had well, used it on my legs; needless to say he was annoyed with himself & I. I know the first few shavings (as a female) I tried the electric ones...hated them but seemed to be more gentle (tend to remind me of dog fur trimmers/clippers).

I would think on a man and his "parts" that triple spinning head would tend to grab spots/areas which would be less then pleasant...shower or bath first and use shaving cream...it softens the hair and makes it less painful. Just do not nick the tissue.

I dry shave my face, but I'll use a straight razor before I try doing that to my parts.

Straight razors arent that scary....I tried shaving with a knife my grandfather gave me...like crocidile dundee lol. Aside from razor burns it wasnt too bad...seriously...

No not on my pubes...I did it to my face...what can I say I was bored...and even then the razor burn wasnt too bad...(I come from a long line of fisherman and hunters...our knives are always extremely sharp so cutting is a breeze)

But I realized the biggest problem after tweezing for an hour lol...the hair grows in totally random patterns so rather than them growing the same direction, some go diagonal and such so that accounts for so many problems lol...

Absolutely so, from painful personal experience!
Absolutely so, from painful personal experience!
I would think so! Happy New Years..!!!

Use a good procuct to treat before and after you shave, use the cream, and a triple blade....I think the one I have is the Sensor (I think they are all about the same)...I can use it on the legs (it's a mans razor) and not a slight red mark. Other's leave a burn...I had it originally by of my then fiance...heck, might as well use it.

I think he was talking about using a knife to shave in that one, Sera; I use a Sensor too, haha!
I think he was talking about using a knife to shave in that one, Sera; I use a Sensor too, haha!
Gotcha! He has me sort of confused; thought he was shaving his face in the last episode...and with the knife...LOL.

I did shave my face with a knife lol. I was replying to one of the posts talking about using a straight razor before shaving his pubes....I was simply trying to point out straight razors arent as bad as people make them lol.

And yes sera I use shaving cream. But I keep getting mail from gillete wishing me a happy birthday and sending me a free razor (the four blade one) so I have been using that..

Ducy,,,I say SON,,,apparantly shaving against the grain on your face is the best way to get a close shave..I did this a few times for special occasions and ended up with nasty results until I read something LAST YEAR and I'm waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay old...if you shave against the grain, you hold your razor with JUST TWO FINGERS (thumb and forefinger)every so lightly...just enough pressure to shave..let your fingers flex...remember you are using a NEW RAZOR...at least 3 blades...this will definitely minimize the red bumps...a buddy of mine has ALWAYS shaved against the grain and he has no problems, myself for whatever reason never did it that way..after you are done shaving against the grain, use a very good aftershave BALM...Hugo Boss Baldessarini Del Mar , Thierry Mugler balm,Tommy balm, heck I think even Gillette has an aftershave balm,,,I'll have to go into my "stock" to see if I still have some of that one!!

Damn... I've ALWAYS shaved my pubic area against the grain, without any shaving cream, fairly quickly and roughly, and I've never had any problems. Ingrown hairs? I don't even know what one is like. Guess I'm just lucky or something...

Then again, whenever I shave my face I tear myself apart. I don't really understand it...

As mentioned, a fresh high quality razor will help tremedously. If you have
never had a facial and gotten some good tips on facial care, you might want
to try that. Lubricated face and high grade "balm" will cool the skin and minimize
the pain of shaving.

thanks constant...Ill remember that...

but just for the record...so nobody else gets confused....

THIS THREAD IS ABOUT PUBIC HAIR....

it does get confusing...but that is the basis of this thread lol.
