Nocturnal Masturbation
For some reason, about ten or eleven years ago, I began to masturbate in my sleep. I'm talking more than just the usual hand on your dick type thing that is built in with guys. I'm talking about waking up and can tell that I've been stroking it.
Basically, I'd like to find out if anyone else has had this problem (maybe not a problem since it's never caused any issues).
The first time this surfaced, was summer time when my daughter was in school and out for the summer vacation. She and my wife would stay up too late for me sometimes, so I had gone to bed at around 11:00 pm.
Around 1:00 in the morning, my wife apparently came upstairs, did her routines, went pee and got into bed. "She said she felt a lot of steady movement, so she got up and turned on the lights and could see my hand under the sheet moving up and down.
When she got off the bed, apparently I stopped for a second but now, she pulled down the sheet and sure enough, I was pumping my dick.
So we woke me up and said, "you're masturbating in your sleep."
I said "...and you woke me up for that?" thinking it was the usual guy thing.
But I could feel that it wouldn't take much of a rub on it to make me go off.
I laid there for a second knowing I had to pee, but that was not going to happen unless my penis went towards the Yoda mode a little. I sat on the toilet and this thing would not subside. It was like when I first started getting boners and was throbbing. Ten minutes later, I finally manipulated it enough to go pee. Normally that would start it on the soft program. But it didn't.
I went back to bed where my wife was sitting indian style on the bed. I sat next to her and told her that I remember some parts of a good dream I was having and the protagonist in this dream was her.
She asked if I wanted her to finish me off and I said I would be obliged. But we started kissing and I slid my hand down to her vagina and it was wetter than I've ever experienced with her. For some reason, she was very hot about this. We had some great sex and I figured that's that.
But as time has gone on, there are times when we have to get up in the morning and she will wake me up several times some nights and tell me I'm jacking off and it's keeping her awake. When she's awake, believe me I don't get any sleep. So I don't know what to look forward to from here.
Girls, has any of your partners ever done this? And guys, do you know if you have done this. I'm not talking about a wet dream...simply masturbation.
The only particular I can give is that as I've grown older, I masturbate less. Not because I don't want to, but my employment keeps me busy sometimes in long spells and I don't have the energy to turn the key in my vehicle to start it, let alone work this thing up and down until I ejaculate.
That's about it.
Thanks for any input

Never had a man do this. Biggest thing is if he was sleeping he would grab me from behind and rub against me--then it wold stop after a few minutes or I would wake him and fool around.
I have never witnessed this but the literature reports it as a not uncommon phenomenon. Of course, if a friend like sera interposes herself, your hand will become irrelevant! I would recommend the two of you develop some kind of agreement that when this disturbs you, she take over by whatever means she wants. You get release; she gets sleep; you both improve your sexual intimacy.
A strange place to have this documented is in the archives of old medieval monasteries. Some of the orders had their members sleep in large dormitories and required that their hands be outside the covers. A roving guard awakened anyone whose hands had disappeared. Or anyone who had exposed other body parts - such as a foot!
Thanks for the input girls. Interestingly enough, I've never done this until ejaculation. That is to say, I've never had an actual wet dream because of it so far as I know. And once I'm asleep, I stay asleep unless awakened by for instance my lovely bride. She is a light sleeper and when it bothers her, that is when I get awakened. Otherwise, I'd probably sleep through it and never know it. In fact, that is what I suspect as far as whether or not men know if they do it. It likely would be noticed more by their lovers especially if they are light sleepers. One last peculiarity of this is that it seems to happen when I'm horny and when I'm not horny (ie sleeping after just having had sex and ejaculating). So I don't know how much of it is attributable to being horny and needing to release and how much is simply an overactive mind or part of it.
Funny, when I was a child, my aunt called me busy hands because I was always taking something apart or simply playing with it. Was she prophetic or what?
Thanks again
It's funny you mention there is no correlation between being horny or not. With my ex husband, he did his pushing/rubbing against me (or at times groping me) when he was exhausted and sound asleep. Also, these were nights where we just made love before falling asleep.
We both did shift work, worked bizarre hours, and much like yourself wondered how we even drove home. If I had a horrible day, I would talk in my sleep or sleep walk, he did the sexual rub thing. He honestly was asleep and I would wake him so I could eventually get some sleep. A while back, Notooblushing posted a similar experience, and in the middle of the deed he began to snore. I had to laugh b/c once my ex-husband did the same, I was so pissed I pushed him off me. He woke and had no clue what was wrong with me.
So back to your point, perhaps this is something you do while in a deep sleep. I noticed the behavior I described only when he was dead tired. It might be interesting to look at "sleep studies" to see if other's had any similar reports!
It could very well be that you've hit upon something that is constant to this condition. First of all, as I think back, at least on the ones that were for some reason memorable, it was the kind of night where as soon as my head hit the pack, I was gone city. My wife even said one time I fell asleep and started snoring in the middle of a sentence. So that could be a factor. But maybe something that is aggravating it, is that I've been a Narcoleptic for nearly 30 years. I take medicine for it, but those medicines don't affect Narcoleptics the same way they would a normal person. My doctor always laughs about it saying that if he took just one of the pills I take four of ever day, he would not sleep for three days. But you see, they don't affect me that way. I am a very sound sleeper and I don't sleep more than about six hours a night. I said all that to say all this....You mentioned something about a sleep study. They have done two on me and one of them is a sleep clinic where you go and stay all night and the next day. It's like an old Victorian house really cool and the day you arrive, they hook you up with about 150 or so sensors with wires and they all come together at one plug so you can get up and move around. One of those sensors is an elastic device that is fitted around your penis. It measures erections so they can tell if other parts of your Rapid Eye Movement sleep are normal in intensity and occurences. They also watch you on a video monitor and there are microphones in the room so they can listen and watch everything as they monitor a bank of instruments to check what else is happening. The next day they make you go to sleep in this bed for 15 minutes every two hours five times during the day. it's all about REM. You need to go into REM during those five periods at least three times to be considered Narcoleptic. I went in 5 out of 5 times. But they knew going in I was Narcoleptic, it was mainly for a new insurance company who required it. Now, without getting too deep into the whole biophysical end of this, the erection, the REM which is dream sleep and several other things are definitely out of wiring range in me which is why I fall asleep driving, working or anything without the meds. But the dreams I don't have at night come to me in these little short circuits during the day and it comes across as a hallucination because a dream would look like that if it happened when you are awake. But in normal people all major voluntary muscles are paralyzed which they figure is so you won't act out during a dream and hurt yourself So in normal people, they would not be able to masturbate during REM because their arm muscles would not work. Mine however have a short circuit in the Hypothalmus gland in the brain.
Once you said that about the sleep study, I am putting something together that I should have long ago.
I'm going to research it by calling the sleep study center and ask them what they think. Just for information, whatever I find, I will post.
Thanks a million guys.
gosh I shouldn't of read this, now I am scared I will start doing this!! But man don't worry about it, it's quite funny. If my girlfriend masturbated in her sleep I would laugh and think nothing of it, I wouln't care 1 bit or think of her in any different way. But I love how you said " AND YOU WAKE ME UP FOR THAT " ... **** i was laughing my ass off.
I talked to a clinician at the sleep study place and she said that as I suspected, people normally cannot do this in REM because the large muscles are essentially paralyzed. But it could happen just after REM and not during the dream. Possibly if the dream during REM was sexual in nature and appealing, my erection may remain rather than subside and if it gets the "itch" then it could be that I'm "scratching" that "itch". Interesting euphemism. In any case, also as I suspected there is a chance that since my REM cycles are all out of whack, it's possible that my large muscles are not always "paralyzed" as they should be. She cited the cases of people taking that popular sleeping pill who have had sex, driven cars, painted rooms, etc. while sound asleep. They should have been disarmed by nature's own protection...paralysis but are not. So it's still up in the air. It actually is happening less and less and after reading the comments on this board, started looking at it more as something that has nothing to do with actually masturbating and something more akin to my condition...since it is a sleep disorder.
The clinician also said that although they have not observed this in male patients while being studied with cameras etc. on them, they have seen more than one occasion where a female patient was being studied for Sleep Apnea and even though the patients did not use their hands, experienced what appeared to them as full on orgasms. Body moving a little, like restless sleep, but built up, got vocal and came down just like they were having an orgasm via a sexual stimulation. So hmmmmm.
Anyway, thanks for your input everyone. As I said before, it's never really been an issue other than my lovely bride keeping me awake because I'm keeping her awake, so as often as it happens, I can live with it.
I seem to do that myself at times (im female if not guessed :P) but i always wake up feeling like i have orgasmed... o.0 not sure what causes it for me
You said you always wake up feeling like you've had an orgasm. Do you mean feeling like that physically? or emotionally as in relieved/calm/not stressed?
Either way, since I've never awakened messy, but with an erection that is very, very sensitive and it feels like if even the sheets touch it watch out, maybe I've just awakened too soon. Or more aptly, my wife has awakened me too soon.
It has not happened in a few weeks and I don't know if it's because I began to talk about it on here, or the fact that we just got a kitten not too long ago and since I sleep with no clothes on and normally without sheets either, I got scratched on my "member" in the middle of the night. Man, that @#$%^%^& hurt! My wife laughed because she said the little tyke jumps on anything that moves and it probably was jerking like it will do when erect.
I made it a point of pulling the sheets up but I wake up and they're off.
Anyway, I was thinking that maybe I'm subconsciously afraid of getting scratched again.
If that's it, maybe I've hit upon the solution. Get a kitten. But man, I wouldn't recommend it unless you love pain.

Have you heard the phrase "Every time you masturbate God kills a kitten?"
Oddly appropriate, I'd say :P
My fiancée is into dream interpretation, and I am into the psychological side of why we have dreams; you know that both men AND women experience "sexual readiness" during dreaming and afterwards, especially if the dream is especially intense (not always sexual). What I mean is, men and women have increased blood flow to their genitals during REM and the phase right after it aka wetness for women, erections for men. Dunno what this has to do with you touching yourself while asleep :p but it was just an interesting point lol. I have also woken up feeling like I've came; very wet down there, tighter than normal, and the euphoric feeling. I wonder if women have "wet" dreams too?

I often wake up really wet, sometimes even remembering part of a dream, but it soon gets fogotten.
I've never woken up at the feeling of coming though, just very aroused. But I know it's not uncommon for women to have "wet dreams".
i always wake up really wet, and once i woke up feeling ike i had just had an orgasm i was really annoyed because i couldnt remember it

O.O! Could you find me a link about that? Really interested lol
my bf dosnt necessarily masterbate in his sleep bt he is always touching himself like rubbing it etc and it keeps me awake as i can feel his arm moving he does it most of the night too
Studies show that durring REM sleep 90% of the time men are erect and turned on. I know I always wake up with the morning wood and probably have it all night. I will wake up masturbating sometimes too. Its a fairly normal thing (but doesnt mean its common) id say because of the fact that durring REM sleep we are horny bastards, the only difference between you and a guy who doesnt wack in his sleep is his cognition durring sleep. Some people sleep walk, some people sleep talk, some people will ****ing make coffee or start the laundry without them knowing it till the morning... you, just so happen to masturbate. Its normal, hell, im proud that im so horny i wack it in me sleep (then again... I dont have a wife that would wake me up for it hehehe).
I often wake up with my hands down my pants :(...usually lightly rubbing myself lol
When my fiancée catches me doing it he removes my hands and does it himself :p.
i think my wife does this too. Just like you siad, curiouswoman, with her hands down her panties. SHe usually doesn't wear anything but a pair of panties around the apartment and when we're in bed, and so it's pretty easy for me to tell when she's soaked. And that seems to be pretty frequent.
<--- envy.

That comes as close to what goes on with me as I've seen. Lots of good responses. But that one is exactly what my wife goes through with me when I do it. Hmmmmmm
Also the post about God killing a kitten every time someone masturbates is hilarious on several levels. But the main thing that came to my mind was that if it were true, cats would be so rare, they'd be worth their weight in Cocaine! No...they'd be extinct with no hope of ever becoming a population problem.

try this. but mostly my information is collected from forums like this :) or when I talk to my female friends, they also admit they have had expereinced that.

Thanks for clarifying that up for me.
When I sleep I tend to get up, start talking incoherently and move stuff around.
I used to sleep walk but not for a long time. I do talk a lot in my sleep. The words are clear, my wife tells me, but they are disconnected. For instance, "where did flag drop sorry I cold where? Oh I choke cycle cycle, yeah cycle, no cycle" She calls it "working the night shift" because many times the words are connected with my job, so she figures, my mind never left work.
Don't move things around I don't think. Although now that you mentioned it, my son has been blamed for things being moved or messed with and he swore he was not the culprit.
Hmmmmm. The more I know, the less I understand. All the things I thought I'd figured out, I have to learn again...(apologies to Don Henley)
Such is the development of the mind. Finding new worlds in our little strange ones and realizing truths known are still half ones.
