im wanting to start up on birth control. here soon a guy is comming down to visit me, and i'm probly gonna be on my period. I REALLY dont want to be. He'll be here for a few days and according to my schedule, i should start the day before he gets here. Im not really planning on having sex with him, but we'll fool around. i just want to delay my period. Can birth control do that? If so what should i do, should i start on it right away or is there certain timing i need to think about? Please, just give me as much information on birth control as you can, i'll appriciate just about anything. Thanks

birth control questions*

There are many if's here and the bottom line is I do not recommend it.
IF you are on the pill, you can keep on taking them (no break) and it will delay your period. IF you are not on the pill, just starting before he comes will only get you system all confused and the most likely outcome is that will feel badly while he is there. If you will not be having sex and will not need the protection, there is no reason to be taking hormones. Going on and off is not good for you.
Some forms of the pill are more amenable to this than others and you really should not mess around with hormones without some advice from the prescriber.
Try a menstural cup. If you are not having sex, they are as unobtrusive as possible and reduce the chance for an overflow. If he reaches in, there will be a surprise, though.
are you already taking birth control pills?
technically yes you can delay your period but its not recommended b/c it throws you off schedule and your body out of whack.
i had a friend who used to do that and when you get to the pills in the pack that are just the sugar pills... the ones you take a week before you start your period... u just skip those and start a new pack of the ones w/ hormones.
im not sure all of the side effects of doing this so i wouldn't do it unless you are sure its ok.
